LUBBOCK, TX -- Longtime Lubbock newsman Paul R. Beane announced Friday he will retire from broadcasting. His daily commentary “The Way I See It” will run for the last time on April 30 on KFYO.

Beane has worked for KSEL television which is now KAMC 28. He worked for KLBK, KRFE, KRBL and most recently KFYO; that’s by no means the complete list. He also had ownership interests in several radio stations over the years. In all, Beane has been in broadcasting for just short of 60 years.

Beane gave live reports to warn Lubbock residents in the minutes before the 1970 tornado. He also served on the Lubbock Housing Authority Board in the time after that disaster. Years later, Beane served four years on the Lubbock City Council.

He plans to fish and go hunting.
