Postal workers and local activists had a protest Thursday night, a deal the U.S. Postal Service has made with the chain store, Staples.
Back in November, a pilot program was created to operate 82 postal counters at Staples locations across the country.
The quick service counters will be staffed by Staples employees, many here in Lubbock argue this will affect privacy, by replacing highly-trained postal employees with low wage, high turnover jobs.
USPS says StapLes is the first chain store to participate in the their "Retail Partner Expansion Program" to increase access and convenience to customers.
The protest was from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Staples on 62nd and Slide Road.
