Lubbock Has Fourth-Best Unemployment Rate Statewide

Lubbock has the fourth-best unemployment rate statewide, according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission.
AUSTIN, TX -- Despite having the one of the best unemployment rates statewide, the Lubbock unemployment rate is still up comparing numbers from December to January, according to a release from the Texas Workforce Commission.

The unemployment rate for Lubbock amounted to 4.3 percent, up slightly from the 4.2 percent in December of 2013. The number of unemployed is slightly down from January 2013 - currently at an estimated 6,400 jobless in Lubbock.

Lubbock’s unemployment rate is fourth-lowest in the state. Other regional cities like Midland, Odessa, Amarillo and San Angelo have some of the lowest rates in Texas, according to the TWC.
