The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences wanted to thank their biggest fans through Fan Appreciation Week and Devan Vasquez is one of those fans.
"I just followed them on twitter to see if there were any updates about the Oscars because I love the Oscars. Then they said they were having a fan appreciation week and you could ask these questions and then answer them and if you were chosen you would get a prize."
The prize was two tickets to the bleachers section at the Oscars. Devan Vasquez, a senior at Texas Tech, wants to work in the film industry and said she's excited to see the stars fashion up close.
"I'm not a fashionable person but yeah, usually I watch the E! News and all those red carpet shows and everything."
During Fan Appreciation Week Vasquez had to answer a series of questions, like "If you won an Oscar what would your acceptance speech be?"
"First, you know, I'd thank God and my family for being with me because we've had a tough few years and I would definitely thank all the people in the room, you know, at the Oscars because I look up to all those people because I want to work in film."
The Academy also asked for a picture of fans most prized movie related possessions. Vasquez's said hers was reply letter from 1950's movie star Doris Day.
"I never thought I would actually get a letter back but she read my letter, she sent me a letter with, you know, her signature and everything. I was excited. I love Doris Day so I was ecstatic when I got it and that's my favorite thing I have."
Vasquez said she is meeting her cousin in Las Vegas before road tripping to Hollywood to stay for the weekend.
"Just going to California, going to Hollywood, having the whole experience of just being able to see that stars right there, you know, it kind of makes everything more real. You know, instead of just seeing them on the screen....I'm pretty excited."
