LUBBOCK,TX- Lubbock I.S.D. is being invaded by pencils, erasers and tests.
This week students around the state, including those in Lubbock, Frenship and Cooper I.S.D., will be tested on reading, math and writing.
It's called the STAAR Test, and it stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
Students will have to pass the exams in grades 5th, 8th and 12th in order to graduate to the next level.
Students in all other grades may not be held back for low test scores, but they could be a determining factor to decide if your child is ready for the next grade.
Every public school in Texas is required to follow the same curriculum and the STAAR Test is the states way of testing that curriculum.
Pam Leftwich is the Executive Director for Research and Accountability for L.I.S.D.
She said not to let your child stress over the test, instead trust that their teachers have done their jobs.
Also, to make sure they get plenty of rest and a filling breakfast.
Schedule for Testing:

7th Grade- Writing
8th Grade- Reading and Math
