Mardi Gras 2014

Executive Director Lisa Gilliland and Assistant Director Mary Gerlach, both with Meals on Wheels, expand on how Mardi Gras is their largest fundraiser of the year and more!

·         Lubbock Meals on Wheels (LMOW) receives no governmental nor United Way funding. 

·         Mardi Gras is our largest fundraiser of the year.

·         LMOW provides nutritious, home-delivered meals to those who are homebound, elderly, or disabled.  We seek to break the social isolation experienced by the homebound by providing warm, caring, friendly contact through our volunteers.

·         In 2013, LMOW served over 160,000 meals.

·         Daily LMOW serves over 620 unique individuals.

·         Mardi Gras features 38 local restaurants.

·         Mardi Gras includes live music, magic & other entertainment, masks, beads and much more.

·         Mardi Gras has cash bars.

·         Mardi Gras has a large area for children with activities.

·         Mardi Gras includes a large silent auction with over 200 items.

·         Benefit drawing for Southwest Airline Tickets-only 1,000 benefit tickets sold.

·         Mardi Gras tickets are $35-adults, $10-children 17 and under (available at LMOW), available at Select-a-Seat (service charge applies).  $40.00 at the door.
