The Monterey Plainsmen have been struggling a bit so far this season, but saw some signs of improvement in last weeks game against Randall. They were trying to carry those over tonight and notch a win against Caprock.

Monterey spent a better part of the first quarter with the ball had a drive that took nearly nine minutes that spanned to the 2nd quarter and ended when Camden Arnold found Jared Frankhouser for a short touchdown.

That would seem to open the floodgates as Victor Rodriguez hits TJ Ledbetter and he makes a couple moves and is gone; the touchdown ties the game at 7.

But Back come the Plainsmen, with Travon Benton out, Vincint Johnson, had to shoulder the load and did it well, cashing in a touchdown to put Monterey back in front.

The teams would keep trading scores until late in the 4th quarter, when Monterey trailed 35-28 and Marcus Hopson picked off a pass and took it deep into Caprock territory. A few plays later the Plainsmen would cash in with a touchdown to pull within one point. Monterey would miss the extra point though to fall by a final of 35-34.
