Local Girl Scouts will be out and about this weekend doing what they do the best - selling those delicious cookies. Booths will be set up across the Lubbock area this weekend and it's looking like, with a bit of cooperation from the weather, tables can be set up outside.
Although a bit snowy to start, skies will begin clearing around lunchtime Friday as highs reach the upper 30s and low 40s. Temperatures will fall to near freezing by sunset, so make sure to get those sales in before the girls pack up for the night.
Saturday will be pleasant temperature-wise as highs are expected to near the 60 degree mark. Friday's breezy conditions will continue into Saturday, with weekend winds looking to be between the 15-25 mph.
Sunday is looking to be near-perfect with highs in the mid-50s with a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon. Not until Monday night do we see another chance for rain/snow.
Good weather for a good cause, here's a few things the Girl Scouts would like to share before heading out to support our local troops:
-- National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend 2014 is February 7th-9th. Girl Scout Cookie Weekend is an opportunity to share the fun and excitement of the Girl Scout Cookie Program with the public.
-- The Cookie Season in the Lubbock area will take place from now until March 9.
-- All proceeds remain in with the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains council.
-- New cookie alert! There’s a new addition to this year’s cookie list: the Cranberry Citrus Crisp is full of tangy cranberry bits and zesty citrus flavor. Filled with 9 grams of whole grain and made with real fruit, this “all-occasion” cookie has no high-fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.
-- Cookie sales are put on annually to help, what the Girl Scouts term, the 5 skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.
Happy ‘National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend’!
