LUBBOCK,TX- This summer, Congressman Randy Neugebauer launched his new campaign to keep our nation's motto, 'In God We Trust' at the forefront of the nation.

"The foundation of America was built on people who believe in God," Congressman Neugebauer said. "So we believe that for America to prosper in the future, we have to return to those same principles."

In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower made 'In God We Trust' the nation's motto. It had been used on American coinage since the Civil War, but was added to paper currency in 1957. The motto is also engraved on several buildings, and the words hang above the Speaker of the House in the House Chambers.

In recent years though, Congressman Neugebauer said the motto has been met with some resistance.

"You've seen a number of lawsuits where people are trying to get the ten commandments removed from being publicly displayed," Neugebauer said. "Even there was an effort to strip 'In God We Trust' from some of the national buildings and taking it out of classrooms."

The Congressman is a founding member of the National Prayer Caucus, a group of political leaders that meet to pray before important votes and daily activities. The Caucus created a foundation that supports the 'In God We Trust' Campaign, which is paid for by Neugebauer's campaign fund. The campaign aims to get one million 'In God We Trust' stickers on the cars, homes, offices and classrooms of American's all over the country.

"God is an important part of America," Neugebauer said. "So we want to re-iterate that motto in as many way as many times as we can.We would hope that everyone in America would want one ... everywhere, just to remind us on a daily basis that basically I feel like the future of America really is in God's hands."

You can purchase those stickers at InGodWeTrust.com. You can also find it at the local republican party office and any Neugebauer campaign events.
