No. 21 Tech Baseball Tops OU in Series Opener, 9-5

No. 21 Texas Tech won its ninth straight home game on Friday with a series-opening 9-5 win over Oklahoma at Rip Griffin Park.

No. 21 Texas Tech won its ninth straight home game on Friday with a series-opening 9-5 win over Oklahoma at Rip Griffin Park.

 

Senior LHP Jonny Drozd pitched five innings in relief to move to 5-0 on the season.

 

Sophomore 1B Eric Gutierrez went 2-for-4 and drove in 3 runs.

 

Sophomore LF Tyler Neslony went 2-for-4 and hit his third home run of the season.

 

Junior RHP Corey Taylor pitched three scoreless frames with a strikeout to earn his first save of the season.

 

Texas Tech and Oklahoma will resume their series tomorrow with first pitch set for noon. The game will be televised on FOX College Sports with Brett Dolan (play-by-play) and George Frazier (analyst) calling the action.
