The Red Raiders (15-4, 0-1 Big 12) had their seven-game win streak come to a close while junior right-handed pitcher Dominic Moreno (1-3) marked his fifth consecutive start allowing just one earned run in the loss.

Baylor (9-8, 1-0 Big 12) improved to 8-1 at home this season while senior Dillon Newman (2-1) pitched seven shutout innings scattering six hits with seven strikeouts in the win.

Bears senior closer Josh Michalec pitched two scoreless frames to end the game earning his seventh save of the season.

Baylor scored the only run of the game in the first inning when left fielder Darryn Sheppard hit a one-out double to right-center field and scored the following batter as right fielder Adam Toth tripled down the right-field line.

Moreno struck out nine batters – the most by a Red Raider this season – while notching at least one strikeout in all seven innings pitched.
