West Elementary was put on alert status for possible gunshots. The Lubbock Police Department investigated and found no evidence to substantiate this claim.
LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) -- At approximately 12:00 p.m. today, April 29, 2014, the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Police Department was notified that there were possible gunshots heard in the general vicinity of West Elementary. Because of this, West Elementary was put on an "alert" status, which means that no one was allowed in or out of the building during that time. The Lubbock Police Department investigated and found no evidence to substantiate this claim. The alert status was lifted at 12:55 p.m. There were three LCISD officers on the campus during this entire time, as well as district administrators. The students were never in danger.
