Pita Pit Bringing Healthy Fast Food Alternative to Lubbock

A Pita Pit restaurant is opening it's doors Saturday February 8th at 4th & Frankford

Max Bhakta and Udaya Bhakta grew up knowing each others names but became best friends at Texas Tech. Now, years later, Udaya said they are going into business together, opening a Pita Pit.

"During our college years we were really close. We pretty much did everything together, we were room mates so we always kept in touch and after college we came across this venture and decided to do it together."

Udaya said the idea came from a random lunch run in California.

"I was grabbing something to eat real quick for lunch and wanted something fast, healthy, quick, so I went to something similar to this but it was a different concept so I started doing some research and I called him up and few months later we started this business."

Max will be running the store and said they couldn't think of a better place to open their store.

"This is kind of home for us since we were both here, we went to school here, we graduated from Tech. So we wanted to bring something back here especially because it feels like home for both of us."

Max said Pita Pit has a variety of toppings and fillings to satisfy all tastes.

"If you like meat you'd probably prefer the Dagwood which is full of ham, prime rib and turkey. And then for the vegetarians we have a falafel which is really tasty as well. We can also make salads too. You can turn any pita into a salad."

Max and Udaya said they want Tech students, families, and everyone else in Lubbock to come try Pita Pit.

"We're open to any type of business from children to older people we have food for everyone."

Pit Pit opens Saturday February 8th at 10 am.

They will be handing out coupons for discounts on food and drinks.

This is the first day of business but they plan on having a big grand opening later this year.
