Plainview Man Gets Federal Prison Time for Dealing Meth

Michael Jacques, 39, of Plainview was sentenced last week in Lubbock federal court to nearly 14 years in federal prison.

LUBBOCK, TX -- Michael Jacques, 39, of Plainview was sentenced last week in Lubbock federal court to nearly 14 years in federal prison.

Court records said federal agents identified Jacques as a possible suspect for dealing methamphetamines, and in October of 2013 they made arrangements for undercover drug deal to catch Jacques.  However, before he could meet with an undercover officer posing as a drug buyer, he was pulled over in a traffic stop.

As a result of the traffic stop, investigators seized more than 106 grams of methamphetamine.  His passenger at the time of the traffic stop was Miranda Salas, and she is also his codefendant.  Salas will be sentenced on July 24.

In addition to the prison time, Jacques will have to serve three years of supervised release.
