LUBBOCK, TX -- A recount of the May 10 election requested by City Council District 1 candidate Frank Gutierrez did increase his vote total, but it also increased the vote total for incumbent Victor Hernandez.

“The recount did not change the outcome of the Election,” the City of Lubbock said Saturday in a written statement.

Gutierrez went from 477 votes to 478. Hernandez went from 641 to 645, and Lana Bear Moore went from 149 to 148 votes. Hernandez had a comfortable margin over his opponents. However, he barely escaped the need for a runoff election with Gutierrez.
