LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program officially announced the signing of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Wednesday.
The Red Raiders, coming off a school record 18 victories in 2013, added four highly sought after players from within the state of Texas, two from California and one from the state of Missouri.
“The 2014 class is one we have been eagerly awaiting their arrival on campus.” head coach Tom Stone said. “These players are not only a great fit for us on the soccer field, but they are excellent students and will be terrific representatives of the Red Raider Nation. We obviously had some significant needs to fill with the graduation of the most successful class in program history and we feel these needs have been met on the defensive and offensive ends of the field.”
Texas Tech, which ended the 2013 season at No. 17 in the final NSCAA rankings, went unbeaten in Big 12 play last season while advancing to its second-straight NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders also continued to protect their home field as Tech won a school record 10 games at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
Tech advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after shutting out Minnesota 3-0 in Lubbock. The Red Raiders allowed just nine goals on the season, tying a Big 12 Conference record.
