LUBBOCK, Texas (Texas Tech Press Release) – The Texas Tech soccer match against West Virginia scheduled for Oct. 10 in Morgantown will air live on NSCAATV.com, the organization announced Tuesday morning. First kick is slated for 6 p.m. CT at Dick Diesk Soccer Stadium.
The match was one of five women’s contests nationally to be selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the only one to feature a pair of Big 12 programs.
“We’re excited to be once again featured by the NSCAA,” Tech head coach Tom Stone said. “The NSCAA does a great job showcasing college soccer and our match at West Virginia should be one of the premier matches in the country this season.”
This is the third time in the past four seasons where the NSCAA has selected a Texas Tech match for its television schedule. The Red Raiders previously faced Oklahoma State during both the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the NSCAA Game of the Week.
The early October match could pit a pair of top-25 teams against each other as the Mountaineers closed 2013 ranked 12th nationally in the final NSCAA/Continental Tire poll. The Red Raiders, meanwhile, ended the season a few spot back at No. 17 in the country.
Tech topped West Virginia, 2-0, in Lubbock last season, handing the Mountaineers their first Big 12 Conference loss since joining the league prior to the 2012 season.
Only one point separated the two schools from the Big 12 regular season title as West Virginia claimed the championship trophy after finishing 7-1-0 overall (21 points). Tech ended the regular season with a 6-0-2 mark in league play that resulted in 20 points.
The NSCAA debuted NSCAATV.com in July 2013, giving the organization an online channel that contains original programming, live streams and other content promoting the game of soccer.
