LUBBOCK, Texas (Texas Tech Press Release) – The Red Raider track and field team will officially enter the NCAA Championships next week at Hayward Field with a top-10 national ranking as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today.
The Red Raiders, Champions of the Big 12, received a No. 9 computer ranking marking the squad's ninth consecutive week inside the top-10. Tech is one of just six programs nationally to boast a men's team inside the top-10 of the national rankings for nine or more consecutive weeks this season.
The Lady Raiders, meanwhile, remained steady at No. 15 marking their third consecutive week inside the top-15.
Texas Tech, after competition at the NCAA West Preliminaries last week, will be represented by 12 qualifiers at the NCAA Championships. The national meet is scheduled for June 11-14 at Historic Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
The Red Raiders finished 24th at the 2013 NCAA Championships - their fourth consecutive top-25 finish at the national meet.
