Severe Storms Hit the South Plains

Severe storms on the South Plains late Saturday put the majority of West Texas counties on severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings, with some counties placed on tornado warnings.

LUBBOCK, TX -- Severe storms on the South Plains late Saturday placed many counties on Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood warnings, with some counties placed on Tornado Warnings. The entirety of South Plains counties are currently on a Tornado Watch, extending as far north as Amarillo.

Hail ranging from golf ball size to grapefruit size was reported from Sundown to Levelland. Muleshoe also reported large hail. Reports also spotted tennis ball sized hail in Hale Center.

Tornado sirens rang out in Dimmitt as Castro County was placed under a Tornado Warning around 10 o'clock pm.

Wind gusts reported up to 81 miles per hour in Amherst, Lamb County.
