Early this morning the Snyder Lady Tigers woke up just one win away from the 3A softball UIL State Championship, but to get there they'd have to get past the Van Lady Vandals in the state semi-final.
In the second inning, Snyder led 3-1and added to it when Taylor Hinojos hit one deep to right center that would score Priscilla Guzman to put the Tigers up 4-1.
In the third the bases were juiced for Haleigh Moore when she ripped one to left. It would roll all the way to the wall allowing a three runs to go home and even Moore would cross the plate for the inside the park grand slam, Van took a 6-4 lead.
Bottom of the frame, it was a one run game until Adrianna Hernandez shot the offering to left field, scoring Hailey Morris to tie the game at 6.
But then the wheels fell off in the fourth when Kylee Moore launched a double to straight away center plating two runs to give Van the lead, 10-6. The Lady Vandals scored seven times in the fourth inning.
The Lady Tigers would climb back into it though. They were down three with two outs and the tying run at the plate. Hernandez ripped one to center but Hallee Carter came up firing. The throw was in time to take out Morris.
Van would win 15-13. That set a record as the highest scoring game at the state tournament but unfortunately not in favor of Snyder. The Lady Tigers finish the season 36-6.
