We have a star-studded leaderboard heading into the final PGA Championship, Led by the face of the game, right now, Rory McIlroy.
Lurking right behind him are a coupel of youngsters looking for their first career major in, Bern Wiesberger, Rickie Fowler and Jason Day, along with the 44-yeard-old Phil Mickelson.
After the amount of rain we have received here in Louisville over the past couple of days that has allowed the golf course to soften up, I thought we might see Rory pull away like we saw him do in the 2011 US Open and the 2012 PGA Championship (won both by eight shots). But instead Rory played well but not well enough to distance himself from the field as 12 players are within five shots of McIlroy. Tomorrow, I think you’ll see a very competitive day of golf, with some of the games best, playing their best golf at the right time, and at the end of the day we will see the familiar names like, McIlroy and Mickelson at the top. We’ve seen the thrilling finishes in PGA’s past here at Valhalla in 1996 and 2000, and I think it sets up for that late round drama with the two par fives on the back-nine, including the 18th, so If you play well you can make a charge and post a number I will be spending the final round in the 13th tower with Bill Macatee so I will have my eye on everything as the round progresses, and will check back in tomorrow after the final round, which you can see on KLBK starting at 1:00pm tomorrow.
