Summer of Sharing Food Drive Brings in Some Special Help

Kids from Covenant Child Development Center help out in the Save Our Ship food drive benefitting the South Plains Food Bank.

LUBBOCK,TX- This week kids from Covenant's Child Development Center Summer Camp learned what it is like to be hungry.

They learned how to eat more healthy, and what is was like for kids their age to struggle to get food.

It was all part of the Save our Ship food drive benefitting the South Plains Food Bank.

Friday was the last for Covenants partnership with the food bank, so kids joined KLBK at Lowe's on 19th and Frankford, to tell viewers what they learned this week.

Shoppers could purchase a $5 sack of food, that would be donated to the SPFB, feeding one family for a whole week.

Just because Covenant's week of helping is over, doesn't mean folks will no longer be able to donate.

Shoppers can still purchase the bags at Lowe's locations or drop off donations to the SPFB directly.

Last year, Covenant donated one truck bed full of food.

This year they have already surpassed the mark donating more than 1,300 pounds of food.
