Taking the Hectic Out of the Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving can be a very stressful time for those playing host to their family and friends, but it doesn't have to be.
LUBBOCK, TX- Seleta Abbot with Market Street said that the Holidays shouldn't be a stressful time and over the years, they've come up with more ways to make it that way.

"We have the holiday meals that are easy for you to come and pick up," said Abbot. "Come in the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They're cold and they have the heating instructions in them. In 2 hours you can set the dinner on the table in front of your family and friends and you're ready to go."

Gone, Abbot said, are the days of the pressure to make everything from scratch.

"It's so much easier this way. You get to visit with your family. You get to play with the grandchildren. You're not in the kitchen the whole time and missing out on everything that's going on in the living room."

Another way to help out a host, Abbot said, is by being a good guest and bringing something to share.

"One of the nice ways is to either offer to bring something, or if your hostess insists that she has it all, you might pair some wines."

Abbot also said that if you plan to bring a dish to let your host know ahead of time, and that it never hurts to present a gift, or send a thank you card later.

So limit the stress, and maximize the special time that you have together said Abbot.

"It's a fun time, it's a family time. You know, this is really a time of blessing being showered upon us, especially if our families live away from us."
