Texas Tech Baseball Ranked in Five National Polls

Tech up to No. 19 in USA Today Coaches poll, receives five national rankings following sweep over OU
LUBBOCK, Texas (Texas Tech Press Release) – Following its third consecutive weekend series sweep, Texas Tech (35-13, 11-7 Big 12) received a national ranking from all five national polls – its highest at No. 19 from the USA Today Coaches’ poll – while having been nationally ranked for 11 consecutive weeks, spanning the entire regular season.
 
Tech’s No. 19 ranking is its highest national ranking since the 2005 season when the Red Raiders were also ranked 19th by the Coaches’ on Mar. 21, 2005. Tech has now been ranked in the Coaches’ poll seven of the last eight weeks while having moved up at least two spots in each of the last three weeks.
 
Tech also moved up two spots to No. 21 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association – a poll that has tabbed the Red Raiders among its top-30 teams in the nation during all 11 weeks of the season.
 
The Red Raiders jumped back in the Collegiate Baseball poll at No. 21 after having not been ranked in its top-30 the previous six weeks with its previous ranking at No. 26 on Mar. 10.
 
Baseball America ranked Texas Tech No. 21 – giving the Red Raiders their first ranking in the Baseball America top-25 since a No. 21 spot nine years ago on Mar. 21, 2005.
 
Texas Tech received its first-ever national ranking in the Perfect Game top-25 at No. 23 in this week’s poll. This week marks the first time the Red Raiders have ever been ranked in all five national polls during the same week.
 
Texas Tech will start a five-game road trip on Tuesday, Apr. 29 traveling to Oral Roberts for a 6 p.m. first pitch at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Okla. The Red Raiders will complete the week with a Big 12 weekend series at Kansas, May 2-4, at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan.
