LUBBOCK, Texas (Texas Tech Press Release)– After playing just one game last week, Texas Tech (37-16) received its 13th consecutive national ranking with three national publications placing Tech among its top teams in the nation.
Tech remained at No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll, moved up to 23rd in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association top-30 poll and checked in at No. 27 for the second straight week in the Collegiate Baseball poll.
After winning its only game last week 18-3 at Dallas Baptist, Tech received its ninth national ranking during the last 10 weeks by the Coaches’ poll.
For the 13th straight week the Red Raiders are among the top-30 in the country according to the NCBWA poll, while moving up one spot to No. 23 this week. Tech’s highest ranking in the poll this season came at No. 21 on Apr. 28.
For the third straight week, Tech is in the Collegiate Baseball poll and has now been ranked by the publication six times this season.
Overall, all coming during the regular season, Texas Tech has received 30 national rankings from Baseball America (1), NCBWA (13), Collegiate Baseball (6), USA Today Coaches’ (9) and Perfect Game (1).
Texas Tech will close its regular season this weekend hosting West Virginia for a three-game Big 12 series, May 15-17, at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock.
