In 2001, Jessie Callaway lost her sister Lindsey to the brain tumor she had. Now Jessie gives back to the community to help others in Lindsey's name.
"That's our passion, that's what drives us to keep Lindsey's memory living on and to help others who are in the same position Linsdey was and their families as well - we know what it's like to be stuck in the hospital. It's no fun. Especially for children."
Now Jessie and her family have teamed up with the Lubbock Elks Lodge to put on an event to help pay it forward.
Diana Gallagher is a nurse as well as a member of the local Elks Lodge and says, "We've done a couple of little things over the years but once we heard the whole story we really felt moved to do more, to help more and get behind this project completely."
The Elks Lodge is putting on the toy drive dance this Saturday the 16th from 8-11:30PM at the Elks Lodge featuring the Texas Cadillac Jack Band. And all it takes to get in is a new unwrapped toy. It all goes back to the kids at Covenant.
"Those times in the hospital no matter your social status it's hard to see your children not feel good, so seeing a kid smile means everything."
