Trustees Name McWhorter Principal and Coronado Football Coach

Lubbock ISD Trustees named a new principal for McWhorter Elementary and a new athletic coordinator/football coach for Coronado High.
LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASSE) -- Lubbock ISD Trustees named a new principal for McWhorter Elementary School and a new athletic coordinator for Coronado High School at their meeting today [Tuesday].

Karla Mann, assistant principal at McWhorter Elementary, was named the principal for the school, following the retirement of Del Lopez. Mann, who is certified as a principal, school counselor and teacher, joined Lubbock ISD in 1993 as a teacher at Rush Elementary. She has served in administration at Murfee, Guadalupe, Wolffarth and McWhorter Elementary Schools. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and graduate degrees from Tech and Lubbock Christian University.

Seth Parr, currently the head coach and athletic coordinator at Caprock High School in Amarillo, was selected as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator for Coronado High School, following the resignation of Kent Jackson. Parr led Caprock to post-season play in 2010 and 2011. He has also coached at Amarillo Palo Duro where his teams made the playoffs five times. He is a graduate of Plainview High School and attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, before finishing his degree at McMurry University in Abilene. He has won several “Coach of the Year” honors in the Panhandle.
