LUBBOCK, Texas – It took him a year, but Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith added four more pieces to his 2014 recruiting class, as the Red Raider mentor signed two high school seniors and two junior college transfers on Wednesday.
Texas Tech has added the services of high school seniors Keenan Evans (Richardson Berkner) and Norense Odiase (Delray Beach [Fla.] Elev8 Sports Institute and junior college transfers Justin Jamison and Devaugntah Williams of Missouri State-West Plains. These four join early signees Justin Gray (Tampa [Fla.] Berkley Prep) and Zach Smith (Plano East).
This is the highest rated class for the Red Raiders since landing the nation’s No. 19 recruiting class in 2004. 247Sports.com rates this as the nation’s 84th-best recruiting class in the nation and the fifth-best class in the Big 12 Conference. The Red Raiders have not had a class ranked in the Top 100 since 2005.
Smith has landed the services of one four-star recruit in Gray and five three-star recruits in Evans, Odiase, Jamison, Smith and Williams.
Texas Tech returns five scholarship players and three walk-ons for the 2014-15 season.
