TxDot Working Around the Clock to Keep Roads Safe

It's an uphill battle for TxDot crews, out working 24/7 to make the roads safer. But as KLBK's Alison Morris reports, they aren't doing every stretch of road, and drivers need to be extremely cautious.

LUBBOCK, TX-  Dianah Ascencio with TxDot said that workers will be out hitting the tricky spots in Lubbock and surrounding areas where most wrecks happen.

"They're out patrolling the roadways, treating slick spots. Here in Lubbock county, we're treating bridges and overpasses and other critical areas such as curves and main intersections."

However, they want it known that their crews don't treat entire roads, and drivers should still be very careful.

"Even though we are out trying to keep as much ice off of the bridges and overpasses and some of these other critical areas, motorists should drive cautiously and expect as long as the weather continues to remain the same to expect there to be icy spots," Ascencio said. "Even on these areas we're treating."

Ascencio also asked that people watch out for their crews.

"We are asking motorists- if you see our guys out there working- they're out there working to make sure the roads are safe for you so we're asking you to give them the space they need to do their jobs."
