WICHITA FALLS, TX --The City of Wichita Falls is going smoke-fee in all public places. The City Council, in a 4-3 vote, passed a new smoking ban ordinance Tuesday morning. The ordinance bans smoking in all businesses, including restaurants and bars. Existing businesses will be given a two year grace period to comply, but any new businesses will be required to comply immediately.
Smokers will be required to stay twenty feet from the entrances to public buildings and playgrounds. Patrons at local bars will have to stay five feet from the entrance.
The ordinance will take effect on July 17, 2014.
