LUBBOCK,TX- Lubbock Independent School District said their many construction projects will be finished by the first day of school.

LISD took advantage of the summer break to make updates to several of its campuses, thanks to a $198 million bond election in 2010.  Superintendent Dr. Berhl Robertson said all LISD middle schools are getting new tracks and turf, and Coronado high school will get new front and back entrances. O.L. Slaton and Hutch middle school will get some much needed exterior updates, and Robertson said Mackenzie Middle School is getting an interior overhaul.

"We've got some remodels going on particularly a big one going on at Mackenzie Middle School," Dr. Robertson said.  "It's an interior remodel with tile, ceiling tiles, lighting and paint."

The Superintendent said all projects are on schedule to be completed by August 1st, and they are on budget including the new two-story Miller Elementary school, which is scheduled to open over Christmas break.

"I feel good about where we are," Dr. Robertson said. "We're still within budget and we are about to finish this thing up on time. So, I'm excited about it."

Dr. Robertson said they have used about 90% of their bond money and will use the remaining money on projects next summer.
