LUBBOCK, TX - The Frenship Tigers were given a fundraising challenge and they exceeded expectations.
"(The) most exciting thing for me, as superintendent, is our kids are driving all of this," Dr. David Vroonland said.
At the beginning of this year, Frenship students were asked to participate in a program called "Kids for Wish Kids" to raise money for Make-A-Wish.
"I'm really pleased with their efforts and contributing back to kids who are less fortunate because of circumstances they can't control," Vroonland added.
Every Frenship campus held events to help the cause.
This month, the district presented Make-A-Wish with a check for more than $20,000-- enough money to grant at least two wishes.
"I think it's sending the right message to our children and to our community, that we're involved, that we expect our children to be involved."
On average, it costs $8,000 to grant one child a wish.
