(LUBBOCK, TX) - A new restaurant is now open in Lubbock and part of the proceeds, made before the restaurant even opened to the public, are headed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
If you ask Kendall Howard, there's a little something for everyone on the menu at Mama Fu's.
"One of the main reasons I like Mama Fu's is we've got a full delivery program. I think people are getting a little tired of pizza and they want a little more variety," Owner Kendall Howard, said.
Now that the doors are officially open at the second Lubbock location, you can place your order and do so, knowing Howard is giving part of the store's proceeds to a deserving non-profit.
"I feel like we reach a certain point in life, if you're very successful, that you need to give back to the community," he said.
Before the restaurant opened to the public, the staff hosted a few "run-throughs" for their friends and family.
The food was only half price, but every dollar went to Make-A-Wish.
Howard estimates he's donated close to $500,000 to non-profits over the years and this generous gift of nearly $8,500 will go toward granting the wish of at least one child on the South Plains.
"It's a wonderful organization. They do a lot of wonderful things and it just makes your heart melt when you see some of the work they've done for some of these kids that are going through a really rough time," Howard said.
