LUBBOCK, TX - Make-A-Wish's annual fundraising gala, Waltzing for Wishes, took place in March.
If you went this year, or if you've been in the past, you know the event is not your average fundraiser.
"It's a traditional fundraiser with a little bit of excitement," Michael Postar said.
Postar is a member of the Make-A-Wish board, locally.
He explained that the event's excitement is found on the dance floor where local celebrities teamed up with professional dancers to perform a ballroom dance of their choice.
"It's a fun event. Everybody likes to give back, but they also like to enjoy themselves and that's what we done."
A month later, we now know how successful the event was.
Make-A-Wish hoped to raise about $280,000 at this year's gala.
Instead, the non-profit took in close to $320,000.
The money will go straight toward granting the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions.
"Seeing these kids (and) knowing that you can make a difference in their lives, in their family's lives, it's a huge ordeal," Postar said.
If you haven't been before, Postar hopes you'll consider going next year.
"The number one thing I hear from everybody is they leave this event saying that was the funnest thing that I've gone to ever and then they want to come back."
