Work on Historic Granada Back Underway After Delay

After a year of sitting idle, work is again underway at the historic Granada Theater according to the Plainview Daily Herald.
PLAINVIEW, TX -- After a year of sitting idle, work is again underway at the historic Granada Theater according to the Plainview Daily Herald.

“We are starting to move forward at light speed,” owner Darryl Holland told the Herald.

Crews were doing demolition in the lobby on Friday. Holland purchased the Granada in 2012, but soon found himself with more work than money on the project.

So, according to the Herald he reorganized the theater as a non-profit operation which then opened it up for donations.

Holland hopes to restore the Granada to its former grandeur as seen in 1929.

“I want to give people a taste of what the Granada can be,” Holland told the Daily Herald.

No specific date has been set for the reopening of the Granada in downtown Plainview, but Holland said to expect big announcements soon.
