LUBBOCK,TX- If you plan on following the Red Raiders to Omaha for the College World Series, you better have some cash.
At least that is what our research tells us.
First off, not everyone will get a ticket.
Tickets from Texas Tech are only available to baseball season ticket holders and Red Raider Club Scholarship donors.
Those are the folks who donated more than $4,000 to the University this year.
Those fans had until 5 PM Monday to declare their intentions, and the school will announce Tuesday morning which lucky fans get two of the universities 700 tickets.
Senior Associate Athletic Director, Steve Uryasz, said not everyone who wants a ticket will get one; but there are other options besides the university.
"I know that as teams get eliminated a lot of tickets become available," Uryasz said. "I think our fans, if they choose to go, will be able to access tickets in the O
Uryasz also suggests checking online ticket sites like Stub Hub.
But getting tickets is only part of the challenge.
We checked several flights from the Hub City to Omaha and the cheapest round-trip flights to be found were around $800-$900.
Tech did not have an official hotel as of Monday afternoon and rooms were also hitting the $200 a night mark, with many hotels asking for a minimum of four nights.
The prices are not set in stone and you can find a better deal, of course, if you are willing to do a little more digging.
Chris Snead, a Tech Heckler, also works for the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
He said the group is planning pre- and post game events for Tech fans in Omaha.
"It is a lot of logistics involved," Snead said. "In fact, one of the things I am working on right now is pre-game events for the first two games that Tech will have there; and we are looking to see how we can make this a fun time for our fans that go to Omaha."
