LUBBOCK, TX -- Lubbock police released new information Thursday in a deadly New Year’s Day shooting at the Skool House Club near 4th Street and MLK. It turns out there were two shooting incidents at just about the same time.

At about 3:00 am, shots were fired outside the club – resulting in the death of Abraham Ugene Cleaver, 21, of Lubbock.

In a separate shooting inside the club, an arrest warrant says Marcus Deshaun Carroll, 23, shot Nicole Lee Gocher, 25. Carroll is charged with aggravated assault and was booked Thursday into the Lubbock County Detention Center. Another man is listed in court records as a suspect but that second man has not been charged.

Frank Jobrodrick Anderson, 24, was also shot but court records do not say if he was involved in the shooting inside or the other shooting outside.

Police said in a news release, “There has not been an arrest made in reference to [the shooting death of Cleaver]… The involvement of all parties in this incident is still under investigation.”
