DPS Trooper Seizes Over $572,000 in Drugs

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on IH-40, yielding over 5 pounds of hashish valued at over $40,000 along with 125 pounds of marijuana valued at over $532,000.
AMARILLO, TX (PRESS RELEASE) – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on IH-40, yielding over 5 pounds of hashish valued at over $40,000 along with 125 pounds of marijuana valued at over $532,000.
 
At approximately 2:04 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Ford Fusion  traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.
 
The driver of the Fusion was identified as Michael Lee Waters, 61, of Jacksonville, Fla. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 100 vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana and one vacuum-sealed bag of hashish in the trunk.
 
Waters was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Anderson, Calif., to Savannah, Ga.
