Week eight of the high school football season has finally arrived, with teams all around the South Plains positioning themselves for the post season, while others fight to stay alive.
Thursday night was a big game for both of these teams in the district 2-3A playoff chase.
It was rough right from the start for Seminoles. On, the first play of the game, the snap is high and would roll out of the back of the end zone spotting the Matadors the early 2-0 lead.
Later in the first, with Seminole punting, Robert Johnson made his first appearance returning a punt deep into Indians territory.
Then a few plays Johnson took it in for the touchdown to take the 9-0 lead.
Seminole would show some fight though, on the ensuing kick-off the ball rolled around for a little bit until Sabraun Adams picks it up and turned on the jets and would return it all the way for the touchdown, cutting the deficit to 9-7.
In the 2nd quarter with the same score, Johnson busted loose on another long run into the secondary and would be dragged down by his face mask, which would tack on 15 more and the Mats were back in business, once again. Johnson would polish off another drive with a touchdown that made it 15-7. And the Mats would not look back as they roll by a final of 42-21.
