LUBBOCK, TX -- Depth at the quarterback position is suddenly a very real issue for Texas Tech. Wednesday, Michael Brewer announced that he is transferring. He says he plans to graduate at Texas Tech, but then use his remaining eligibility elsewhere.
Brewer is the third quarterback to leave. Clayton Nicholas and former starter Baker Mayfield left the team before the bowl game.
The fan reaction seems to be night and day compared to Mayfield's transfer a few weeks ago.
We sat in on Double T 104.3's "The Bottom Line" radio show today. They're getting lots of texts in from fans.
Hosts Casey Cowan and Jamie Kent say that fans seem to be taking Brewer's transfer pretty well. But, they say that may have to do with their confidence in Davis Webb, the one quarterback still on the team who played well in the Holiday Bowl.
Cowan and Lent say while the reaction has been pretty positive, Tech fans do know that they need a back up quarterback, so they've been getting a lot of texts about that.
