Texas Attorney General and Gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott formally registered for his canadacy for the GOP nomination for Governor.
Abbott filed in Austin this morning after participating in a campaign rally.
Attorney General Abbott hopes to succeed republican Governor Rick Perry who is not seeking re-election this year.
He's the most financed candidate in the Republican field for Governor that also includes former Texas party leader Tom Pauken.
Abbott cites his efforts to fight government expansion as his campaign's centerpiece.
State Senator Wendy Davis also registering today in Dustin.
The Democratic hopeful plans to take on Greg Abbott for Governor in next the next year's primaries.
Davis says she, too, is making job creation the focus of her campaign by promoting medical and research science and technology.
