Holy Spirit Parish, Lubbock to dedicate Faith Formation Center
LUBBOCK- Holy Spirit Catholic Church will welcome Most Rev. Plácido Rodríguez, CMF, Bishop of Lubbock, to celebrate a fifteenth anniversary Mass and dedicate a new 20,000 square-foot faith formation center, Saturday, September 7 at 5 p.m., at the Lubbock parish at 9821 Frankford Avenue.
The new faith formation center will be dedicated to Monsignor Eugene Driscoll with a ribbon cutting after the anniversary Mass. Monsignor Driscoll is the current pastor of the parish and served as the founding pastor of Holy Spirit Parish in Lubbock in 1998.
"We wanted to commemorate the hard work and leadership Monsignor Gene has exercised the past fifteen years," Holy Spirit Parish associate pastor, Father Joseph Palacios said. "Monsignor Gene has served at the parish since its inception and has worked with the parishioners to hear how God has called them to take each next step."
The Driscoll Center provides seventeen new classrooms, an office and large conference room, which will provide necessary space for the growing faith community. Father Palacios said the Driscoll Center offers dedicated meeting space, which will allow space for parish organizations to meet throughout the week.
"By adding the Driscoll Center to our existing facilities, Holy Spirit hopes to be able to offer opportunities for prayer and faith formation to the diocese," Father Palacios said. "The center's meeting spaces are ideal for breakout sessions and reflection at conferences, such as the annual Footsteps in Faith Conference, which is scheduled for February 8 and 9, 2014."
