Folks across the hub city were equally excited as hundreds were seen lined up outside stores waiting to get their finger prints all over the new iPhones.
Some lines even started forming Thursday night.
For the Newman's the thought of waiting a second longer for the i-phones was just unrealistic...
So when the doors opened at 8 a.m. at an AT&T store in south Lubbock they were the first ones through.
"I've been carrying around a piece of trash for a while and I've been hanging on and waiting for this phone to come out and I didn't want to wait any longer," said Whitney Newman.
The Newman's were in line for 12 hours and Whitney says being the first to get the new i phone 5s is like icing on her birthday cake.
They said the rest of their day will be consumed by rest.
