(Odessa, TX) - Texas DPS released information over the weekend concerning an officer-involved shooting.  An official statement republished by permianbasin360.com says late Friday afternoon officers spotted a stolen vehicle in Odessa.

It says one of two suspects fired a gun at officers, who did not return fire at that time.  Officers pursued the stolen vehicle north on Highway 385 when the stolen vehicle was stopped and a suspect again fired at officers.  Officers then returned fire injuring one suspect.

The statement then says, “The other suspect fled and jumped into another vehicle that had two occupants who were taken hostage.”

The suspect drove his hostages three or four miles and stopped.  The hostages ran away and officers convinced the remaining suspect to surrender.   Officers have not released the condition of the suspect who was shot.

The Texas Rangers are now investigating.
