Kithuka Falling Short For the First Time in His NCAA Career

Texas Tech senior Kennedy Kithuka finished second overall with a time of 29:59.1 in the 10,000-meter race. It marks the first time in his NCAA cross country  career to be defeated in a race. Edward Cheserek of Oregon won the men’s individual title with a time of 29:41.1 becoming the first freshman in Oregon history to win the national meet.
 
Kithuka will compete as a senior on the men’s outdoor track and field team this spring.  The Texas Tech outdoor track and field season begins March 21.
 
Tech will also host the 2013 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 16-18 at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex.
