The deadline to apply for a job with the Lubbock Police Department is only a few days away.
LUBBOCK, TX -- The deadline to apply for a job with the Lubbock Police Department for the current recruiting class is January 10. An entrance exam will be administered for applicants on Saturday, January 11, at the Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane. A physical ability test will be held after the entrance exam.

The starting salary for a probationary (new) police officer is $45,483.36 according to the police web site.

“Interested candidates must apply online,” the job posting said. A valid email address is also required. To start the application process go to http://www.lubbockpolice.com and look for the link called “January 11, 2014 test application.”

The current City of Lubbock fiscal year 2013/2014 budget sets aside enough money for 433 officers. However, one of the goals for LPD listed in the current budget is to have two officers for every 1,000 residents – or said another way, “[to] increase staffing to an authorized level of 471 police officers.” The budget also sets aside money for 144 civilian employees at the police department.

Lubbock hired more than 50 police officers last year and held three police academies.
