Texas Tech picked up right where they left off last week against the SMU Mustangs last week, throttling Stephen F. Austin 61-13 in their home opener.
It took the Red Raiders just three plays to find the endzone on the first drive of the game after a 30-plus minute delay, when Baker Mayfield found Jakeem Grant who took it 42 yards for the Touchdown.
That Touchdown would set the tone for the Red Raiders as Stephen F. Austin’s defense was no match for the Red Raider Offense. Baker Mayfield and company tied the record for the most points in a quarter, set back in 2005, with 28.
The game was over by halftime and so was baker Mayfield’s night as he didn’t see any action in the 2nd half after going 21 of 30 for 367 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 66 rushing yards.
Mayfield gave way to Davis webb who threw for 127 yards and a touchdown along with two interceptions. In all, Texas Tech totaled 731 of total yardage, including 237 yards on the ground after rushing for just 47 last week.
Next up for the Red Raiders they will face a TCU team that will be without Quarterback Casey Pachall, that game will kick at 6:30 from Jones AT&T Stadium.
