As more folks sign up for assistance more delivery routes are needed, but the organization doesn't have enough drivers to add them.
In order to help the elderly, homebound and disabeled with purchasing and delivering their meals, Assistant Director Lisa Gilliland is asking for folks to give just one hour of their time.
“The meal is important, but so is that daily human contact,” said Gilliland. “For a lot of our recipients that volunteer may be the only person they see all day so for them to get to go out and have someone to visit with get that hot nutritious meal. You're putting your time right back into your own community and helping people right on your own block.”
