One Dead, One Critically Ill Inside Lubbock Motel Room

LUBBOCK, TX – Police, firefighters, the Fire Marshal’s office, and EMS responded during the noon hour to the Budget Motel, 34th Street at Avenue G. One person was found dead and another was found critically ill. Later an investigator with the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s office also responded.

Officials are investigating to see if carbon monoxide (CO) poison ing may be the cause. CO is a colorless, odorless gas that can sometimes come from a faulty heater. Names and other details were not released early Thursday afternoon.

Names were not released early Thursday afternoon but officials did say a 59-year-old man was found dead, and a 43-year-old woman was taken by EMS for treatment at a local hospital.  Officials said they checked into the motel Wednesday night.  Names will continue to be withheld until family members are notified.
