AUSTIN -- The Clean Air Force of Central Texas issued a statement on Sunday declaring Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 an Ozone Action Day.
The area affected by the Ozone Action Day encompasses Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties.
The Clean Air Force said that people with chronic lung disease such as asthma and emphysema and also elderly and young children are particularly affected by ozone and should avoid as much exposure as possible. For more information on ozone, you can visit the Clean Air Force and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality websites.
The Clean Air Force said that you can reduce air pollution by limiting your driving on ozone action days, avoiding idling in your vehicle, maintaining your vehicle, riding the bus and postponing refueling your vehicle, mowing your lawn and using gas-powered equipment until after 6 p.m. on Monday.
